My photographic journey started in 1974 when, in primary school, I chose photography as my compulsory extra-mural activity, and despite dropping chemicals on the darkroom floor, opening the door and flooding the darkroom in light and various other capers that infuriated our photo master, I managed to persevere.
By the early '80's I was pretty much taking photos of anything and everything that was unlucky enough to stray in front of me and my trusty Pentax K1000 camera. I also spent the latter half of that decade hurling myself (much to my mother's anguish) out of perfectly serviceable aircraft several thousand metres above the ground, with a camera strapped to my skydiving helmet.
When the '90's rolled around, and aided by the fact that my fiancée and I were working in various game reserves throughout Southern Africa, I was focusing almost exclusively on wildlife photography… little did I know what the photographic future would bring!
We now live in Hoedspruit, adjacent to the world-renowned Kruger National Park which allows me access to many photo opportunities. Despite my background and passion being wildlife photography, my photographic interests are quite diverse and include product, food, portrait, boudoir and bodyscape genres.
As well as being an accredited club judge for the Photographic Society of South Africa (PSSA), I also enjoy passing on my photographic knowledge to others and I offer various workshops which I tailor-make for individuals or small groups.
If you would like to get in touch with me about a photo shoot, building a model portfolio, photographic judging or photo workshops, please hop on over to my contact page and drop me a message – I'd love to hear from you.
OK, enough about me! Go grab something to drink, sit back, relax, have a look around and let me share with you some of the beauty I see in the world around me.
